The New England Patriots are hurrying to settle on a quarterback for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions due to injuries to quarterbacks Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer.
But they made a choice today. The Patriots revealed on Friday that rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe will get the start over the Lions.
Hoyer has been ruled out due to a concussion, while Jones is listed as questionable due to an ankle injury.
During Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, Zappe made his NFL debut.
He didn't accomplish much, but just enough to persuade the Patriots that he is capable of handling more responsibility.
